Deepening Commitment to Our Local Community

A Year of Action

Last year was a year of action. People engaged in civic discourse at the highest rates in decades. Millions marched together in solidarity, constituents made their voices heard at town halls and many new to public and community service were inspired to run for office. In Silicon Valley, community members and organizations came together to build on years of demonstrated progress and commitment to protect the freedoms of our friends, family, neighbors and colleagues. These actions by our community and Californians across the state gave us hope and inspiration.

As a member of the Silicon Valley community, the Sobrato Family Foundation saw the need to speak up and leverage our voice to respond to pivotal moments in the national and local discourse that impacted the communities we support. These headline-grabbing events also reinforced our commitment to place-based funding focused on building an inclusive community with opportunity for all its residentspornmobile.

We believe Silicon Valley has the resources and potential to not only lead in technological innovation, but also in addressing the pressing issues facing our community every day.

All People in the Valley Deserve the Opportunity to Succeed

For 20 years, we have focused on building a strong nonprofit ecosystem in Silicon Valley. By providing general operating support, capacity-building for nonprofit leaders and their organizations and first-class office space for nonprofits, we work to ensure that the organizations our community depends on are effective and accessible. The Foundation is also committed to increasing equity across the Valley. We promote access to high-quality education in underserved communities, work to ensure that being an English language learner is not a barrier to academic success and create avenues to jobs that can turn into a career because we believe all people in our communities deserve the opportunity to succeed.

Proud to Give Locally

The past year reminded us how proud we are of our dedication to giving locally. We believe Silicon Valley has the resources and potential to not only lead in technological innovation, but also in addressing the pressing issues facing our community every day. This Annual Impact Report demonstrates what we can accomplish when we band together and fight to preserve the values that make the Valley such a great place to live, work and play. Thank you for working with us to make Silicon Valley a place where everyone has the opportunity to go as far as their talents and tenacity will take them.
